J-1 Specialist Program Application

The Asia-Pacific Culture Specialist Program draws international experts in fields of specialized knowledge or skill to participate in experiential, place-based learning focused on cultural exchange in the U.S. The purpose of the program is to expand cultural understanding and awareness of Asia and the Pacific by observing, consulting, or demonstrating special knowledge in a three-module curriculum hosted by BYU–Hawaii.

The year-long Asia-Pacific Culture Specialist curriculum will be a blend of workshops, immersive experiences, and cultural exchange. The program consists of three modules:

  • Module 1 (July – November): Asia Pacific
  • Module 2 (December – March): Hawaii
  • Module 3 (March – July): American/U.S

Interested candidates should complete the web form below. We will evaluate your application and notify you of our decision. Upon acceptance, students are required to make arrangements to reside in Hawaii for the duration of their participation.
