Asia-Pacific Culture Specialist

J-1 Specialist Program Application

The Asia-Pacific Culture Specialist Program draws international experts in fields of specialized knowledge or skill to participate in experiential, place-based learning focused on cultural exchange in the United States.

The purpose of the program is to provide observational experiences to Asia Pacific Specialists and to expand the cultural understanding and awareness of Asia and the Pacific by observing and gaining special knowledge in a three-module curriculum hosted by BYU–Hawaii.

The year-long Asia-Pacific Culture Specialist curriculum will be a blend of workshops, immersive experiences, and cultural exchange. The program consists of three modules:

  • Module 1 (July – November): Asia Pacific
  • Module 2 (December – March): Hawaii
  • Module 3 (March – July): American/U.S

Interested candidates should submit an application.

A committee of university administrators will evaluate applications and determine eligibility of applicants.

If accepted, Specialists are required to enroll immediately in the Specialist Program.
