The Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-160)

The visa application is commonly referred as the DS-160. You must receive your DS-2019 or your I-20 from the ISS before completing the DS-160. This is because it requests information from your DS-2019 or I-20.

From the DS-2019 you may need to include:
  • Your Program Start/End Date
  • your Program Number
  • your SEVIS ID
From your I-20 you may need to include:
  • Your Program Start/End Date
  • Your School Code
  • Your SEVIS ID
All the information you need can be found on your DS-2019 or I-20. Therefore, you are encouraged to carefully review the document when you receive it. You will refer often to your document while completing the visa application.

Please do not book a flight to the U.S. before you have been approved for a U.S. visa.
